The 2020 Bourgogne Hautes-Cotes de Beaune "Clous 377" (again, note the small name change) is matured in regular Burgundy barrels that are one-year old. You have to spend a little time with this wine to watch it unfurl in the glass: pure redcurrant, cranberry and raspberry scents, quintessential Pinot Noire. The palate is slightly granular in texture on the entry, very saline and lightly spiced, good intensity on the finish with a tingle of white pepper on the aftertaste. Excellent. The 2020 Hautes-Cotes de Beaune Altitude 377 Clous is deeper and more concentrated, wafting from the glass with aromas of cherries, sweet red berries, cinnamon, cloves and raw cocoa. Medium to full-bodied, seamless and velvety, it’s layered and fleshy, with supple tannins and a long, saline finish. [William Kelley, 25/08/2022]
