Tasting Notes
Wine Advocate 94
The white 2024 Iraun was produced with Viura, Malvasia Riojana and Calagrano from old vines in the villages of Elvillar and Laguardia from early-harvested grapes to keep contained ripeness, 12.5% alcohol and a pH of 3.3. The full clusters were pressed in a vertical press, and the juice began fermentation in stainless steel and finished fermenting in an Austrian foudre for 12 months. This is pretty much about the lees, but he doesn’t do batonnage and only uses a little sulfur after malolactic and, if needed, a little adjustment at bottling time, always trying to use the minimum possible. The wine is very fine, elegant and fresh, young and harmonious, very tasty, and it’s narrower and longer than the last couple of vintages. 3,500 bottles produced. It was bottled in September 2025.
Anticipated maturity: 2026-2032
