Tasting Notes
Vinous 92+
Healthy medium red; a bit less saturated than the Veroilles. Sappy, pure scents of red cherry, raspberry, menthol and flowers. Sweet and penetrating, displaying terrific acid cut and lift to the tangy flavors of red fruits, flowers and minerals. More reserved and upright than the Veroilles today, showing less early volume, but plenty dense and not at all hard or dry. The tightest and most backward of these 2013s, finishing firmly tannic, classically dry and very long. This should age a long time.
Anticipated maturity: 2024-2038

Tasted blind at the Burgfest tasting in Beaune, the 2013 Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru Les Cras has a crisp, orderly, well-defined bouquet with mineral-rich brambly red fruit that opens nicely in the glass. The palate is medium-bodied with fine delineation, supple tannin, dark berry fruit mixed with tea and a touch of black olive. Good length, fine backbone, this is a very well made, you might say "orderly" Chambolle-Musigny. Tasted September 2016.
Anticipated maturity: 2018-2032
