We do enjoy a good gin & tonic in the Mann household and we’ve got some superb gins to share with you, from our neighbours down the road…
Introducing the fabulous Cuckoo range.
When we were still living in the South of England, we had been introduced to Cuckoo by various friends when we were visiting the North West (where Kirsty is originally from). They raved about it; the flavours, the feel, the purity.
We, too, were blown away when we started to explore the range; not only by the flavour and smooth texture, but also the story behind what Cuckoo Gin is all about. We’re not the only ones to think so – as you can see from the abundant awards for the various gins below.
What is unusual about Cuckoo is that the locals have a depth of feeling about this distillery, its people and its products that is quite unusual. It isn’t often that. consumers have such a passion, knowledge and understanding of a drinks brand.
When we actually moved up to Lancashire permanently to set down our roots, we couldn’t believe our luck that the Brindle Distillery (home of Cuckoo) is a stone’s throw away from our new home. Kirsty celebrated her 40th Birthday at the brilliant bar and entertainment venue there with friends, drinking ALL of the fabulous cocktails.
We then both went on the gin-making course at the Distillery with some friends, which is a great day out, and not only did we very much enjoy all of the gin cocktails provided – but by some small miracle Kirsty won first prize for her very own lavender, sweet orange and honey gin creation, “Bee my Honey”.
Our love for Cuckoo, their products and their truly special team was set. It was a totally logical step for us to partner with the family and support one of our best local businesses.
Cuckoo’s independent distillery is situated on Holmes Farm, nestled in the beautiful landscapeof rural Lancashire, in the charming, historical village of Brindle.

Cuckoo’s awarding winning gins are distilled using fresh spring water from the artesian aquifer in the field next to the distillery and almost 70% of the botanicals are natural ingredients that are locally sourced and grown on their farm. They also use sustainably and ethically sourced botanicals from the rest of the UK and across the world.
Sustainability is at the heart of the business and all waste materials are put to good use. The still (affectionately-named “Maggie”) is heated with renewable energy biomass boilers, all of the beautiful bottles are recycled, or they are re-used by turning them into candle jars, and locals are encouraged to go and get their original bottles refilled at the distillery. The cows on the farm are fed the spent grains from the distilling process and the pigs love tucking in to the delicious used garnishes from the bar.
The Brindle Distillery and the Cuckoo brand really are something special. We are extremely proud to be partnering with them and we hope to spread a little Cuckoo love your way.

CUCKOO SIGNATURE GIN
43% VOL.
Citrus. Floral. Refreshing.
Serve with: Mediterranean tonic, slice of orange, 2 cardamom pods.
Inspired by the local legend of the Brindle Cuckoo and handcrafted on the farm with fresh water from their natural spring, Cuckoo Signature Gin is a proper London dry gin.
Once described by Tom at Cuckoo as a ‘nice, fresh, no-nonsense gin’, you can expect big citrus hits from orange, grapefruit and lemon along with floral notes from liquorice and farm-grown wildflowers, for that classic finish.
It’s a complex gin, with a smooth mouth feel to aid those who like to sip. After a slightly sweet, piney juniper start, it then develops into citrus from orange, grapefruit and lemons, with a lingering taste of cinnamon spice and liquorice. It finishes dry with a peppery kick from coriander seeds.

CUCKOO SOLACE GIN
41% VOL.
Herbaceous. Citrus. Vibrant.
With soothing, mellow and comforting aromas, Cuckoo Solace Gin is a savoury combination of home- grown botanicals, teamed with olives and vibrant flavours of lemon and fresh grapefruit.
Serve with: Indian tonic, slice of grapefruit, olives and a sprig of Rosemary.
Solace; comfort in a time of distress. A fitting name for a very special Cuckoo creation. Solace gin was somewhat of an unwelcomed – yet inspired – addition to the portfolio. This gin was made after their Director & Master Distiller Mark’s wife, Liz, was diagnosed with cervical cancer in early 2019. Wanting some positivity to come from an otherwise very upsetting time, the team set about doing what they’re good at. Created alongside Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust, the special launch event raised £26,000 for the charity in just one night, and continues to raise money and awareness of cervical cancer screening.
A well rounded, juniper-rich gin featuring a savoury combination of rosemary and lemon thyme from the farm, teamed with Nocellara and Cuquillo olives and lemon, and with big hits of fresh grapefruit. Completing this offering are classic gin botanicals that include liquorice, cassia, cardamom, almond, coriander and orris root.
A percentage of profits from each bottle sold is donated to Jo’s Cervical Cancer Trust to help raise awareness of Cervical Cancer Screening.
