Tasting Notes

The 2023 Bourgogne Aligote Petit Puits comes from goblet vines that are worked by horse. This has a lovely bouquet, well defined and charming with yellow fruit and light marzipan scents. The palate is well balanced and the marl soils lend this fine tension. There is impressive weight on the finish with just a little oiliness. Fine.

Next to La Charme aux Pretres and on similar soil, though a touch more clay. 100-year-old vines in gobelet, which have to be managed by horse. A fine pale green and gold colour. A touch of wood showing, unless it is the clay. Good clean limestone white fruit beneath, then some breadth and certainly persistence on apple fruit. Idiosyncratic but very stylish.
Anticipated maturity: 2027-2030
