Jasper Morris 90-92
Medium deep crimson. Perfumed ripe cherry on the nose. There is an extra wealth of fruit, lifted raspberry, with riper tannins behind. Fine persistence, this one goes all the way.

Vinous 91-93
The 2021 Volnay Clos de la Barre 1er Cru is well-defined on the nose with raspberry, cranberry and red plum. It’s more withdrawn than the Santenots by comparison. The palate is medium-bodied with ripe dark berry fruit laced with white pepper and bay leaf. With impressive focus on the finish, this fans out nicely and suggests that it will age as well as the Santenots. Excellent.v
