Tasting Notes

An even spicier and more intricately layered nose reflects notes of plum, violet and lilac along with a hint of dark chocolate. The sleek and succulent medium weight flavors possess slightly better mid-palate density while flexing a taut muscularity on the moderately powerful and more mineral-driven finale that exhibits excellent length. This superb effort is bigger than it usually is and though it could use better depth, more will almost certainly develop if given a chance. In a word, terrific.

The 2020 Chambolle-Musigny Les Fuées 1er Cru has a bright nose with black plum, briary, crushed stone and orange rind scents. Suggestions of shucked oyster shell surface with time and impart a discrete estuarine dimension. The palate is medium-bodied with succulent ripe tannins, black cherry fruit, allspice, hints of peppermint and quite a lavish finish, slightly less “serious” than when I tasted it out of barrel last year Great potential.
