Jasper Morris 94-96
There are 16 barrels in 2020, and next year just three barrels – this is not just a question of the small size of the 2021 crop but because 60% of what is currently in the Chambolle-Musigny 1er Cru reaches 25 years old and will graduate to the Musigny. Thus in 2020 the majority of this cuvée was made from more or less mature Musigny vines. Deep dense black purple. The bouquet is pretty heady too, yet with some balance. Very good acidity here, very pure fruit with classical purity, firm but fully ripe tannins and very good length. Some luscious dark strawberry notes. In terms of the quality:appellation ratio, this might be the pick of the de Vogüé cellar in 2020.
