Tasting Notes
Vinous 91
The 2020 Bourgogne Aligoté Doré had been bottled on the day of my visit, so Champy took this just before. It is matured 70% in used barrels and 30% in stainless steel. It could only an Aligoté on the nose, with apple blossom and peach skin aromas. The palate is fresh and quite saline on the entry, beautifully balanced with a fresh, slightly saline finish. Simply, what Aligoté should be.
Anticipated maturity: 2022-2029
Robert Parker 88
Exhibiting aromas of crisp pear, clear honey and white flowers, the 2020 Aligoté Dorée is medium-bodied, crisp and mineral, with a pretty core of fruit, racy acids and a chalky finish. It’s a delicious wine that will reward some bottle age.
Anticipated maturity: 2021-2030
