Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 95+
Planted in 1912 and bottled on its own since 1952, this is one of Australia’s hallmark single-vineyard wines. Scents of cracked pepper, licorice, mint and resinous herbs mark the nose, backed by black cherries and perhaps a bit of cassis this year, while the palate is medium to full-bodied, silky and streamlined. Although the 2017 Mount Edelstone Vineyard Shiraz doesn’t have the richness and expansiveness of the greatest vintages, it’s impressive in its own way, with terrific energy, length, gentle, soft tannins and herbal complexities for days.
