The 2017 Puligny-Montrachet Les Combettes 1er Cru has a tightly wound bouquet with scents of red apples, orange blossom and crushed stone aromas that gradually gain momentum with aeration. The palate is well balanced with a fine bead of acidity. Tropical tones are kept in check by the tension toward the persistent finish. There is a sense of elegance about this Combettes, which so delicious that it will be difficult to resist cracking it open young. (DIAM GC closure)
Anticipated maturity: 2020-2035

Combettes has to be picked very early according to Frédéric Barnier. Pale primrose, there is evident plump fruit and power on the nose. It is attractively concentrated and retains a core structure but the generosity of this terroir does want to burst through.
