Tasting Notes
Vinous 94/100
Glass-staining ruby. Expansive, mineral- and spice-accented aromas of blackberry, cherry compote and violet take on olive and bacon fat nuances with air. Juicy, focused and energetic in the mouth, offering intense, alluringly sweet black and blue fruit preserve and floral pastille flavors that become deeper and spicier as the wine stretches out. The floral and mineral notes carry strongly through an impressively long, juicy finish that features harmonious tannins and a touch of sweet chewing tobacco.

A smaller production cuvée, the 2017 Cornas Vin Noir offers a slightly more saturated purple hue as well as sensational notes of blackcurrants, burning embers, smoked earth, new leather, and game nuances. It’s rich, powerful, full-bodied, and concentrated, with building tannins on the palate. This blockbuster has incredible depth, as well as character, and tastes like the essence of this appellation. Give bottles 2-3 years and enjoy over the following 15+.
