Tasting Notes

The oldest part of Ravera and planted with 100% Lampia. Released one year after the other Elvio Cogno Barolos. Lustrous ruby with narrow orange rim. Firm, concentrated nose that is really distinct with notes of red and dark fruit and a hint of rusty nails. Powerful and at the same time composed palate. Richly tannic and perfectly integrated with the fruit. Great acidity and a wonderful chewy length. Super stylish and hedonistic. Almost Serralunga-like tannins. (WS)

The 2012 Barolo Bricco Pernice is gracious, aromatic and lifted. Bright red cherry, blood orange and white pepper are some of the many notes that lift from the glass. Deceptively medium in body, the 2012 offers notable intensity in the way that only Nebbiolo can deliver. The tannins are naturally quite raw at this stage, so patience is essential.
