Tasting Notes
Antonio Galloni 96+
Brovia’s Serralunga Barolo, the 2008 Barolo Ca’ Mia, saturates every corner of the palate. Dark fruit, smoke, melted road tar, graphite and incense wrap around the palate in this dramatic large-scaled Barolo. Even more promising than it was right after bottling, the 2008 impresses for its spherical personality and towering class. Serralunga is, of course, best known for producing powerful wines, but Brovia’s Ca’Mia is just as remarkable for its superb finesse and elegance.

Vinous 94+
Good full, deep red. An explosion of black plum, tar, spices and melted licorice on the nose, with subtle nuances of meat and tobacco. Big, sweet and round, with harmonious acidity energizing the cherry and spice flavors. A rich, even massive fruit bomb in the context of these 2008s but with terrific definition too. Finishes with strong, dusty tannins and a hint of austerity that suggests this wine will age slowly and gracefully.

Serralunga d’Alba. Deep, youthful ruby. Very young, backward and fine nose of red fruit and leather. Muscular, ripe structure. Elegant, the proverbial fist in the silk glove. Complex and aromatic finish. Lay down. (WS)
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2030
