Tasting Notes
Robert Parker 91
The 2006 Barolo shows gorgeous purity in its bright red fruit, spices and licorice. This is an especially juicy, generous Barolo among the more traditionally made wines of the vintage. Once again, Alessandria’s straight Barolo is a huge overachiever among its peers. Though delicious, and frankly irresistible today, this has enough density to suggest it will be even better in a few years’ time. It is impressive juice. Anticipated maturity: 2010-2020.

The 2006 Barolo Monvigliero offers up freshly cut flowers, red berries and mint in a rich style that brilliantly reconciles a generous expression of fruit with a firm, classic sense of structure. There is so much to admire in the Monvigliero today, but readers should really set aside a few bottles in the deepest corner of their cellars. The elegance and pedigree are first-rate. This is another fabulous wine from Alessandria.
Anticipated maturity: 2016-2031
